Running at Cloudland Canyon

Last weekend was one of those amazing weekends. You know the kind you have every once in a while where everything just fits and you spend the whole weekend laughing and being present and connected to life? What made the weekend so great was that I participated in my first ever trail run in the beautiful Cloudland Canyon State Park in Georgia. Aaron (my husband), Brittany and I drove up to Georgia last Friday and the race was on Saturday morning. We shared a cabin in the park with some people from the race and spent Saturday morning running the…

I’ve been thinking a lot about running lately. I recently participated in my first trail race at the beautiful Cloudland Canyon State Park (there will be a whole post on this later this weekend/week). This run was potent. It lit up my insides and gave me a surge of feelings. It made me feel powerful strong, capable, resilient, all of the good things at once. The week leading up to the race and the week after my mind has been on running. Prior to the race I was nervous (of course!). I wasn’t sure how I would handle the elevation…

Hanging in the “Mountains of Florida”

Happy Wednesday All! I spent New Year’s weekend hanging out in Torreya State Park. Torreya SP is known as the “mountains of Florida” because it has more elevation change than most other places in the state. It’s located on the Apalachicola River in north west Florida. It’s about a five hour drive from Orlando. My husband and I decided to head up this way to get some experience with trail running since we have a trail race coming up in Georgia this weekend. We ran about ten miles the day after New Years and ohhhhhhhh man was it difficult. Though…

Reflecting on 2015

In my last post on NYE I promised I would do a little reflecting on this year and talk about some of the highs and lows because what is New Years without a little reflecting. It would be nice to just share the highs but the sweet isn’t as sweet without the sour, right? Also one of my goals is to be  authentic in this space. So here we go! Things I struggled with in 2015: Making time for friends. I tend to be somewhat of a loner and introvert. I’m married to my best friend and have a lot…

December 31

With the new year upon us the idea of change is in the air. I feel like people tend to be pretty split on this holiday. Some people love the idea of a fresh start, a new opportunity for change, and others think it’s cheesy, overrated or that one shouldn’t have to wait for a new year to make changes. It probably doesn’t surprise you but I LOVE New Years Eve. The excitement and anticipation of what could be really fills the air and for me, makes the possibly or change seem more reachable. It’s as if there is some…

Don’t force.

Hello anyone out there. If there is anyone out there still. I’ve missed writing in this space so much. Computer issues and general life stuff has kept me away but with the new year approaching I am determined to be back at blogging full-swing. Like I mentioned before, blogging is super hard for me. It’s difficult to share personal, intimate details so readily with strangers and those close to me. It’s outside of my comfort zone. This can’t be an excuse though. Some of the best things in life happen when we push ourselves outside of our comfort zones, right?…

Friday Thoughts!

Happy Friday Everyone!!! Finding time to sit down and blog proves to be more and more difficult. Do any of you feel that way? My goal in the new year will definitely be to make blogging more consistent and part of my schedule. I’ve (as always) had sooo many things swimming around my head lately. Thoughts on life, gratitude, relationships, food, weight, change and family. I’ll share a few of these random thoughts with you today and will post more on these topics in later posts. Energy. There’s a certain energy that I’ve been feeling with November. Does anyone else have that?…

Gratitude on Monday

Happy second week of November! I kind of alluded to this on the blog a few posts ago but I spent October in kind of a weird place. Maybe it was a funk or just general life questioning but my head was cloudy. November is already shaping up to feel much better. With that, I am sharing with you three things I am grateful today. Exercise. We talk a lot on the blog about the power of exercise and that’s because it’ can be so influential in shaping our moods and experiences. Daily exercise is truly like taking medication for me. It…

Gratitude on a Monday

Hello Everyone and Happy Monday! There’s been a lot of things milling around in my mind the last couple of weeks and I have a few ideas for future posts that I am working on. I’ve been really thinking about gratitude lately and trying to focus on the good in myself and others. WIth November of course comes celebrating Thanksgiving and I love that the whole month is about sharing and expressing our gratitude. I wrote a post about it before but I truly believe in the power gratitude has to shape our lives and make us happier and healthier people. So…
